max is here,

museo

Sometimes, I hear a Filipino song that I want to share with my girlfriend because it reminds me of her. She doesn’t speak Filipino so I would have to look for an English translation in order for her to understand the lyrics. However, I don’t always find one or I might not be satisfied with what I find. I’ve had to resort to translating these songs for her myself a couple times.

I recently watched a movie (My Future You) where this song played around the end of it. The movie itself was just alright, but the song captivated me. I immediately sent it to my girlfriend and translated the lyrics for her as well. I think my translation is a little clunky but I tried my best!

Eliza Maturan – Museo (English Translation)

How many hours have I been here
My friends have returned home
Who would have thought
In your portrait I will be mesmerized

Behind the scenery
It seems that someone is calling me
I didn’t realize it
Their steps getting closer

I can’t help but
observe your portrait
Even if you don’t realize it
You’re the only one I want to look at
Even if I can’t say it,
Even if it’s not possible,
Can I stay?
You’re the only one I want to observe

Your shadow is calling me
I can also hear your voice
They can’t understand me anymore
They say I’m going insane over a simple portrait

Is it possible
To just stay in this museum?
I didn’t realize it
Suddenly I don’t want to leave

I can’t help but
observe your portrait
Even if you don’t realize it
You’re the only one I want to look at
Even if I can’t say it,
Even if it’s not possible,
Can I stay?
You’re the only one I want to observe

It’s so nice to look at
Even if it’s for several days, years, and months
Even if other people don’t understand
It’s like I’ve felt magic

I can’t help but
observe your portrait
Even if you don’t realize it
You’re the only one I want to look at
Even if I can’t say it,
Even if it’s not possible,
Can I stay?
You’re the only one I want to observe
